Abstract

Introduction: Stunting is a growth disorder due to chronic malnutrition, as indicated by a z-score for height for age below -2 SD. The deformity can be diagnosed by a high-for-age anthropometric index, which reflects long-term linear growth before and after birth due to malnutrition and inadequate nutrition. This study aims to determine the relationship between protein intake and the incidence of stunting in toddlers. Methods: The type of research used is an analytic survey with a cross-sectional study. The sample in this study amounted to 40 obtained by purposive sampling technique. The researcher conducted this research in March-August 2021. This collected data by measuring height, and weight, questionnaire interviews, and food recall sheets. The result performed data analysis with the chi-square test. Results: The results showed that the statistical test analysis showed that the value of p = 0.039 < α = 0.05 means a significant relationship. Therefore, there is a substantial influence between protein intake and the incidence of stunting in toddlers. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that people adopt a balanced nutritional diet and get proper education to improve their welfare.
