GAMBARAN EFEKTIVITAS TERAPI AKUPUNKTUR TERHADAP PASIEN TRIGEMINAL NEURALGIA DI POLI AKUPUNKTUR RSI AISIYAH MALANG (PERIODE JANUARI 2000-DESEMBER 2007)

Neuralgia is pain that arises occasionally and of short duration that occur along the nerve
distribution of a feeling like being stabbed with a knife and heavy. Medical treatment using
chemical drugs that can cause unwanted side effects. In some cases, treatment with drugs or
medikamentosa not be tolerated. If the treatment with Medical intolerable, then the last resort is
surgery that requires a considerable cost.
The design of this study using descriptive research design approach to study the documentation.
Population was all patients who seek treatment for trigeminal neuralgia acupuncture poly RSI
Aisiyah Malang in January 2000 to December 2007. Sampling method used is total sampling
with a sample of 15 people that patients who recover after undergoing acupuncture therapy
acupuncture in poly RSI Aisiyah within that time frame. Independent variable is the
effectiveness of acupuncture therapy and the dependent variable is trigeminal neuralgia. The
research data was taken with dokumentasi.Hasil study showed that acupuncture is very effective
in handling cases of trigeminal neuralgia. This is shown by all the patients who recovered with
acupuncture therapy as much as 1-5 times within 10 days. Effectiveness is influenced by the
accuracy of diagnosis, the patient felt short complaint prior to therapy, and regular therapies of
patients.
Looking at these results it should always be careful acupuncturists to diagnose patients
trigeminal neuralgia. For patients, it should immediately take medication if it felt the complaint
and with regular therapy. As for modern medical practitioners should refer patients to
acupuncturists trigeminal neuralgia in order to get a more effective treatment.
